What is VIEW?
The VIEW program provides employment, education, and training opportunities to help individuals and families move toward economic independence. VIEW is designed to support Virginians living in poverty by building skills, removing barriers to employment, and encouraging long-term self-sufficiency.
Program Goals
The goals of the VIEW program are to help participants:
- Achieve economic independence by removing barriers and disincentives to work and providing incentives for employment
- Develop work skills needed for long-term self-sufficiency
- Enable families to contribute meaningfully to their own financial stability
- Clearly define the responsibilities and expectations of individuals receiving public assistance
- Gain real-world work experience through employment, education, and training opportunities
VIEW emphasizes personal responsibility while offering the support and resources needed to succeed in the workforce.
Participation Requirements
Participation in the VIEW program is required for individuals receiving:
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and
- TANF – Unemployed Parent (TANF-UP) benefits
